This student project on the course FdA DGC year 2 at LCC awarded me membership for The International Society of Typographic Designers (ISTD).
The Waitress is a fairy tale written by Jack Zipes and is about a weak and thin waitress carrying a chair on her back. The chair becomes her companion which only she can see. My interpretation of the story was that the waitress has a split personality. This is reflected in my design with use of typography, colours, foldings and carvings in the book. It was important that the book would have a good reading paste and also arouse curiosity in the reader to turn the page. The design of this book was inspired by contemporary editorial design as well as concrete poetry.
